Diving into the Texan summer often means seeking refuge in the soft embrace of the golden evening hour. But every now and then, a September morning brings a delightful surprise. Such was the case when I rendezvoused with my clients at Murrell Park in Flower Mound, near the serene Lake Grapevine. The sun seemed to greet us with a perfect amount of a cool temperature, as if acknowledging the impending arrival of fall.
While autumn in the DFW area might not match the picturesque scenes of cool, crisp air turning leaves into art, we have our own version of this transformation. Our leaves change hue and descend in response to the fierce heat and drought, rather than the gradual chill. So here we were, in the midst of a scorching September month, surrounded by the rich tones of brown and crimson.
As I stood amidst the parks rugged landscape, with the autumn colored forest, its rocky, cliff-like features, and felt the lake’s gentle waves carried by the wind, I couldn’t help but feel transported. The atmosphere was reminiscent of distant places, as if we had momentarily journeyed beyond Texas.
For a moment, the summer heat seemed to relent, offering us a cool morning respite. Against the backdrop of the brown and crimson forest, the day took on an ethereal quality. It was a day tailor-made for a photoshoot, where the elements conspired to create a scene that transcended the season.
