I recently had the honor of being invited by a wonderful Mennonite family to capture their essence through the lens of my camera. The incredible mother, who shares the same title as me – a mom of seven – found a connection that sparked her interest in my photography. Knowing the shared experiences of motherhood, she believed I would be a good fit to capture their family’s unique personality. Little did I know, this photoshoot would be unlike any other, blending tradition, hobbies, and family bonds in a truly remarkable way.

One aspect that set this family apart was their boys’ passion for shooting. Avid hobbyist and enthusiast gun shooters, these young men had spent countless hours working and training at the local shooting range, Fossil Pointe Sporting Grounds. What struck me the most was their unwavering commitment to safety. It was evident that safety was their utmost priority, and I was thoroughly impressed by their knowledge and respect for firearms.

As a mother to seven and a wife to an avid shooter myself, I instantly felt at home during this session. There was a sense of camaraderie that transcended our different backgrounds and traditions. It was an experience that resonated with me on a personal level, and I found immense joy in capturing the authenticity of their family.

This photoshoot was a beautiful blend of tradition, passion, and family bonds. It reminded me of the importance of embracing what makes each family unique and cherishing those moments that truly define them. I sincerely hope to be invited back to capture more of their beautiful moments in the future.
