Picking Up the Camera Again

A Sweet Family Session in Florida

After moving from Texas to Florida, I put my photography business on pause for a year to focus on settling in and building connections in our new community. It was a season of transition, but as I found my footing, I began to miss the creative joy that photography brings.

Then, a young couple from church reached out. They had noticed that I used to take pictures and asked if I would capture maternity and family portraits for them—including their sweet one-year-old son. It was the perfect opportunity to step back behind the lens.

The day of the session, the Florida skies kept us on edge, with the ever-present threat of rain looming above. An occasional raindrop fell uninvited, but it didn’t dampen our spirits. Instead, we embraced the moment, and what followed was a beautiful session filled with laughter, warmth, and love.

The couple was incredibly sweet, and I couldn’t help but admire the mother’s stunning strawberry-red hair—it was a feature that deserved to be highlighted in their portraits. The little one’s giggles, the way they held each other, and the soft golden light breaking through the clouds made for a truly special session.

Stepping back into photography after a break was refreshing and affirming. I’m so grateful for the chance to capture these fleeting moments and look forward to telling more stories through my lens.
