A Florida Lenten Wedding

A Day of Simplicity, Beauty, and Joy

This past month, I had the honor of photographing a truly special wedding in Pensacola, Florida. It took place during Lent in a quiet Catholic church, where the sacred stillness of the season added a reverent beauty to the entire ceremony. The statues were gently shrouded in purple, as is tradition during this liturgical time, and the church was filled only with immediate family, making the moment feel even more intimate and deeply meaningful.

Because of Lent, the music and florals were kept simple—but in many ways, that simplicity enhanced the beauty. It allowed the love and faith at the center of the day to shine more clearly. Every quiet detail reminded me that less can sometimes be more when the focus is exactly where it’s meant to be.

The groom’s sister is a dear friend of mine, and being invited not only to attend but to document the day through photographs was such a blessing.

After the Mass, we gathered for a joyful celebration in a wooded backyard right on the water. The setting was peaceful and full of character, complete with a charming pirate ship on the property, which made for some whimsical and unforgettable photo moments!

One of my favorite parts of the day was capturing a few sweet shots of the young girls picking flowers near the water’s edge—a moment that felt almost out of a storybook.

It was a day I won’t forget, and I hope the photos I captured will help the bride and groom relive these beautiful moments for many years to come—moments filled with faith, family, and joy.
