A Sentimental Farewell

and a New Beginning

As I embark on a new journey, moving from the vast, open landscapes of Texas to the vibrant shores of Florida, I am filled with a mixture of nostalgia and excitement. Texas, with its sprawling prairies and iconic landmarks like the Alamo and the Texas State Fair, has been my home and the backdrop for the last twelve years. Now, as I transition back home to the sunshine state of Florida, known for its breathtaking beaches and the enchanting Everglades, I find myself reflecting on the beauty of change and the power of celebration.

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of packing up my life, loading it into a moving truck, and saying heartfelt goodbyes to my family. In the midst of this chaos, my youngest brother, who is 16 years younger than I am, gave me a wonderful reason to pause and celebrate. Fresh from his recent graduation from UNT in Denton, he asked if I could capture a few quick photos of him on campus.

Lately, it seems as if many friends and family have shared their feelings of being weighed down by life’s challenges, as if we are trudging through with 100-pound weights on each leg. It’s easy to get caught up in the struggles, but when moments of joy and accomplishment come our way, we need to embrace them wholeheartedly.

Walking through the UNT campus with my brother, camera in hand, was a moment of pure joy. We explored his favorite spots, from the majestic Eagle statue to the serene library lawn, capturing memories along the way. Listening to his stories and dreams for the future was a reminder of the possibilities that lie ahead.

My brother’s excitement and optimism were infectious, and it was a beautiful reminder of why I love what I do.
