Hidden Glades and Wildflowers

Family Photography in Denton

This weekend I met a wonderful family at Clear Creek Natural Heritage Center for a sunset photoshoot. The whole evening felt more like a family nature walk where we were exploring hidden trails and beautiful little pockets of light together.

I’ve photographed at Clear Creek before during the fall, and we hardly had to leave the parking lot before finding beautiful spots to shoot. The tall fields of grass near the entrance are breathtaking during golden hour. This time, though, I arrived early to explore deeper into the trails and was fortunate enough to discover some hidden gems. We found winding dirt paths leading into a whimsical glade in the woods that were perfect while the sun was still high, glowing areas where the grass had been left to grow wild, and even a field of tiny flowers (or “weeds,” according to my husband ) that looked beautiful in photos.

If we hadn’t had a limited time, we could have continued hiking toward the lake, which I’ve heard is especially beautiful at sunset. Even staying closer to the main trails, though, we found so much natural beauty tucked away throughout the park.

One of my favorite moments from the session was watching the children turn bright red and giggle every time I asked their parents to kiss or show affection toward each other. Those little candid reactions always end up becoming some of the sweetest memories to capture. Sessions like this remind me that the best family photos often come from simply slowing down, exploring together, and enjoying the moment.

If you’ve been wanting family photos that feel natural, joyful, and more like an evening adventure than a formal photoshoot, I’d love to help you create something beautiful together.
