Leaving What You Love

A University of Dallas Senior Session

There is something special about photographing a graduate at a place that truly shaped them. This week I had the privilege of photographing a beautiful and faith-filled graduate at University of Dallas, and the session felt less like a photoshoot and more like walking through cherished memories together.

The University of Dallas campus has such a peaceful and timeless feel to it, with its quiet pathways, stone architecture, and thoughtful little corners tucked throughout the grounds. What made this session especially meaningful was that she didn’t just want photos in the “pretty spots”—she wanted photos in the places that mattered most to her. As she gave me a tour of campus, she pointed out the places where she studied, spent time with friends, reflected, and simply lived out these important years of her life.

She spoke so fondly of her time there and shared how much she will miss the campus. There’s such a bittersweet feeling that comes with graduation—the excitement of moving forward into a new season while also grieving the end of something deeply loved. I think many people can relate to that strange tension of gratitude, nostalgia, anticipation, and sadness all at once.

She carried herself with so much wisdom, grace, and quiet confidence, and it was evident throughout the session how much her faith and values have shaped who she is becoming. It was truly an honor to document this chapter of her story.
